  • Our program is rooted in passion for sharing the traditions, foundation, and our practice of Yoga with you. Anyone who is curious and inspired to deepen their understanding and practice of Yoga and wants to take the first step towards teaching, are welcome. We guarantee that you will walk away with confidence, knowledge, inspiration and the tools you need to guide others on their Yoga journey. This teacher training offers a holistic scope of Yoga practice: Ethics, Philosophy, Mindfulness, Anatomy, Pranayama, Asana, Teaching Tools and the modern Business of Yoga. Our faculty consists of incredible educators with over 15 years of experience in the Canadian Yoga community, as they present you with high quality education, professionalism and integrity.

    This 200 HR Hatha Yoga Teacher Training is spread out over 9 weekends in-person learning at Sukha Yoga and Pilates studio in Thornhill, Ontario. Graduates of this program will receive Certification of Completion, and the opportunity to grow their teaching experience at Sukha Yoga & Pilates.

  • Is this training online or in-person?

    Our 200 HR Hatha Yoga Teacher Training is all in-person at Sukha Yoga & Pilates in Thornhill, Ontario.

    Are there any pre-requisites for training?

    We recommend that you have a steady yoga practice, a minimum of 6 months of practice, and the curiosity to deepen your yoga knowledge.

    All levels of practitioners are welcome and can benefit for this 200 HR training.

    Required readings are encouraged to be read by teacher trainees.

    We are a collective of like-minded humans, passionate about all the offerings of Yoga.

    Our training is rich with educators who have been in the Canadian Yoga community and inspired many for over 15 years. This 200 HR Hatha Yoga Teacher Training is an in-person, communal experience, designed to further your understanding of Yoga traditions and foundation, connect you deeper with yourself, your practice, and have you feel confident in sharing Yoga with others.

    What will a day of training look like?

    Each day of training will be 10.5 HR in length, including:

    • 1 HR Yoga practice

    • 8.5 HR Lecture

    • 30 M snack break

    • 30 M Lunch break

    I have a full-time job; can I still do this training?

    As long as you have your weekends free, you are able to do this training!

    Our training is spread over 9 weekends, starting March 22 nd and ending June 8 th 2025.

    I am not sure if I want to teach Yoga, is this program right for me?

    Our training is open to all who are curious to gain greater knowledge of all offerings of Yoga and to deepen their personal practice.

Your Instuctors

  • Darcy is the owner of Sukha Yoga Thornhill and has been deeply involved in the yoga community since 2005.  She began her journey as a yoga instructor and, by 2008, became a proud yoga studio owner.  Over the years, Darcy has completed extensive training in various disciplines including Moksha Yoga, Yoga Works method, Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Meditation.  Her expertise and dedication have also led her to be a part of the faculty for Modo Yoga and SĆ„ana Yoga teacher trainings.

    Currently residing in the Blue Mountains with her family,  Darcy also owns and operates Spy Cider House & Distillery. Despite her ventures in other businesses, yoga remains her first love.  Her experiences as a yoga teacher and studio owner profoundly influence her approach to business, extending her insights and practices far beyond the yoga mat.

  • Marisa began her journey into the world of Yoga while studying Psychology and Corporate Communications in her University years. Searching for a more mindful and meaningful approach to physical fitness and mental health, Yoga became her primary movement practice, and she completed her first 500 Hour Yoga Training with Moksha Yoga in 2004. She is also certified in Prenatal Yoga, Moksha Level 2, and Yin Yoga.

    Marisa opened her first Yoga studio with Darcy Hagerman in North York, and less than 5 years later, opened a second studio in Thornhill. After more than 10 years owning and operating as a Moksha Yoga studio, Marisa and Darcy decided to become fully independent, changing their name to Sukha Yoga and Pilates which has allowed for ongoing growth in offerings to their ever growing and beloved community. 

    Combining her entrepreneurial instincts with her love of teaching has provided Marisa with the ultimate balance of growing a business while connecting on a deeper level with her team of teachers and students. 

    She is grateful for all of the opportunities that have come her way as a studio owner - all challenges included - and feels privileged to spend her days nurturing the growth of this business with her Yoga practice to keep her anchored.

  •  BFA, CPT, RYI, FRC, FST1:

    Naomi is an expert in movement therapy, trained in STOTT Pilates, the Alexander Technique and Yoga Therapy. She is also a Functional Range Conditioning Specialist and Registered Fascial Stretch Therapist. Naomi is passionate about functional movement and assessment, inspiring teachers to achieve greater competence.

  • J-P Tamblyn-Sabo is a dedicated yoga practitioner, teacher, teacher of teachers, and the founder of the Ahimsa Yoga method ā€“ a style of yoga dedicated to honouring the ancient traditions, while continually refining the physical practice with modern understanding of biomechanics and physiology. J-Pā€™s students appreciate his clear, methodical instructions as well as his supportive and empowering teaching style. His skillful infusion of asana with spiritual depth, and his ability to translate challenging philosophical, anatomical or esoteric concepts into accessible and familiar language are key components of his gifted instruction.

  • Yoga Therapist:

    The practice of Yoga had transformed my life, It created deep awareness within that allowed a greater and more genuine connection with myself therefore with my surroundings. The practice continues to open my heart and mind, guides me into balance and provides me with a physical, emotional and spiritual support. For the past 17 years I have been devoted to sharing it with others.

    In my teachings I keep my students focused on staying connected to their inner self, emphasising on breath while developing body and mind connection.

    I believe that the practice of Yoga is adaptable to suit every body and that one can heal when committed to work at all different layers, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual as one. I encourage my students to listen to their bodies and move in a way that feels safe for them. A certified yoga therapist, senior instructor, teacher training faculty member, leading spiritual retreats and various workshops.

  • Paria Mirazimi is a dedicated practitioner and movement educator.

    With over a decade of experience in the world of movement, her knowledge and passion are rooted in Psychology, Mindfulness, Dance, Yoga and Pilates. In addition, Paria has completed trainings in multiple movement modalities such as Lagree Fitness, FRC, bodyART, PBT and LABAN/Bartenieff somatic studies.

    Paria is the previous co-owner of Athletix Academy Inc, she has led multiple International Yoga Retreats, is Teacher Development lead at Modo Yoga Maple and Sukha Yoga & Pilates, and has facilitated many Teacher Development Workshops across the GTA.

    Paria found yoga at the early age of 17 and it has left a mark in her heart ever since. She is a lover of all movement and deeply believes in its healing force. Her passion lies in creating and holding space for students to unfold breath by breath, to become a conscious witness to the now, to themselves, and to their growth and potential.

  • YuMee Chung (she/her) E-RYT-500 YACEP is a former securities lawyer who  left a busy practice to engage more deeply with life. More than 25 years  later, she is a card carrying yoga nerd, movement educator, writer, retreat leader, and mother of cats. 

    Known for her uplifting, breath-driven classes and intelligent, organic sequencing, she is a warm and relatable teacher who communicates  about the most subtle and nuanced parts of the yogic journey with clarity and grace. Students can expect an impeccable practice that strikes a sweet balance between spirit and sweat.

    YuMee is a columnist for the Toronto Star and the creator of a yoga video series called The Moves. She has owned and operated two large Toronto-based yoga studios, Jivamukti Yoga Toronto and Octopus Garden Yoga Centre; served as the Studio Development Director for Modo International; and created Passport to Prana.

    Today, she leads international retreats, trains yoga instructors, and works with clients who are exploring the use of yoga, meditation, and breath-practice as cornerstones of their longevity protocols.

  • BSc.N, MA, C-IAYT, RN, RP

    Tracey is a highly skilled teacher who embodies the sacred teachings of yoga and mindfulness. She is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), registered psychotherapist (MA/RP) and registered nurse (BSc.N/RN) with a thriving 20+ year clinical practice (in hospitals, government agencies and private practice). She is also a mom, a wife, and a lover of life in all its complexity.

    Tracey has taught locally and internationally and maintains a reputation for integrity in training yoga teachers. Her most beloved program is the Yin Yoga Teacher Training - running since 2009. She has completed education and training in yoga (Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal, Yoga Therapy, iRest, Breathwork, Pranayama), mindfulness (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy), Thai massage, Swedish massage, molecular biology, neuropsychology, and nursing/critical care. She holds a Masters degree in counselling psychology and focuses on Internal Family Systems Therapy. Her wealth of education and experience allows her to share vast concepts in a practical and accessible way.
